Gum Surgery

Periodontal Procedures

Surgery may be needed to treat gum diseases like gingivitis or periodontitis. It aims to regrow damaged bones and tissues, prevent tooth loss, reduce gum gaps (black triangles), and eliminate deep infection.

Types of Gum Surgery

1. Gingival Flap Surgery

Used if pockets are deep (>5mm). The gum is separated to conduct a thorough deep cleaning of tartar and biofilm.

2. Gingivectomy

Removes excess gum tissue overgrown on teeth to provide a better area for cleaning.

3. Gingivoplasty

Reshapes healthy gum tissue for aesthetics or to correct gum recession (using grafts).
